Facebook Fans Can Get Upgraded IHeartRadio Early

Clear Channel Radio has used Facebook successfully in the past to promote its iHeartRadio customizable Internet radio service, so why not turn to the social network to offer fans a preview of the new beta release of iHeartRadio prior to its general Internet debut?

iHeartRadio combines more than 800 broadcast and digital-only radio stations from 150 cities across the country with custom stations that users can create.

The official beta Internet release date is September 14, but Facebook users who like the iHeartRadio page can beat the rush and access the service now.

Among the features in the new beta release of iHeartRadio:

Access to a catalog of more than 11 million songs by more than 400,000 artists;The ability to design custom radio experiences with consumer research and the expertise of radio programmers;More integration and sharing with Facebook and Twitter via iHeartRadio profile pages;Bookmarking via My Stations, which allows users to save their favorite stations, both existing and custom;

Clear Channel Radio also announced that it will release an iHeartRadio iPhone app Monday, September 12, also compatible with the iPad and iPod Touch; versions for Android and other platforms will follow.

The official release of iHeartRadio will take place at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas September 23 and 24, featuring performances by: Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Coldplay, Kenny Chesney, The Black Eyed Peas, Steven Tyler, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, Jane’s Addiction, Nicki Minaj, John Mayer, David Guetta, Rascal Flatts, Bruno Mars, Sublime with Rome, Kelly Clarkson, Usher, and Sting.

Clear Channel chairman of media and entertainment platforms Bob Pittman said:
